A. Huijser

Dr. Ad Huijser, executive vice president of Royal Philips Electronics, and chief technology officer, was born in the Netherlands in 1946.




He graduated in technical physics from Eindhoven Technical University and subsequently gained a doctorate in this subject from the University of Twente. He joined Philips in 1970 and held various positions in the research laboratories, before becoming chief technology officer for the Consumer Electronics division in 1991. A year later, he became managing director of research and development for the division's Television business group.

Dr. Huijser returned to the research laboratories in 1994 as managing director and chairman of its management committee. In 1996, he became senior adviser and director of Philips Multimedia Center in Palo Alto, California.

In January 1998, he was appointed managing director of research coordination at Corporate Research and in October 1998 was appointed head of Corporate Research. He joined the GMC as per April 1, 1999, became chief technology officer of Philips as per May 1, 2001 and was appointed member of the Board of Management as per March 28, 2002.
