As an active member of the community, Philips has been contributing and enriching the daily lives of the young and old in Hong Kong. From science to sport to caring for the needy, Philips is always striving the best to serve the community in Hong Kong. We organize a variety of projects and events company-wide throughout the year.
For example, we started our sponsorship of Philips Hong Kong Universities Football League in 2001 to demonstrate Philips' support to nurture young football talents in Hong Kong. Riding on the global sponsorship platform, we aim to forge a strong positive emotional link with HK's young people via supporting football within universities.
Besides the Universities Football League, Philips Lighting Soccer Sevens is our other football sponsorship program. Soccer Sevens is fast becoming one of Hong Kong's most popular soccer events, providing a packed and fun family day out at the Hong Kong Football Club Stadium. Philips Lighting is the Soccer Sevens title sponsor for the third year running of this 2-day international football tournament involving over 20 teams.
Off the pitch, Philips coaches young minds to get creative in the sciences. Philips is a chief sponsor of the Joint School Science Exhibition (J.S.S.E.), organized annually in Hong Kong. The J.S.S.E aims to increase Youth' interest in science and technology, as well as encourage innovation and creativity among young people.
As part of our global family spirit, we enhance and make things better for both our staff and the community around us. We organize a variety of local community programs. Staff from our product divisions and departments actively participate in community service work and Philips donates its products to people and organizations in need, such as to elderly homes, youth centers and many community organizations. In addition, our factory and various departments ran programs to promote occupational safety and on raising environmental awareness.
