Philips Appoints New Country Executive for Hong Kong

Mr Wiebo Vaartjes was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Philips Electronics Hong Kong Limited (Philips) on October 1, 2006.

Mr Vaartjes will take up this position in addition to his current role as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Business Line Cluster Audio and Multi Media Applications. His efforts in creating synergies across Hong Kong and Shenzhen based Business Lines of Philips Entertainment Solutions will create a solid platform to strengthen Philips’ leadership in the global digital “home and away” audio markets. 

 

He started his career in 1979 in a Dutch management consulting firm and spent 2 years in a commercial function in a multinational hospital supply company. After that Mr Vaartjes joined Philips in 1985 with Philips Corporate Organization & Effieciency in Eindhoven and held various positions in the Consumer Electronics Division in business and factory management in the Netherlands, Belgium and Malaysia. He was General Manager of the BU Philips Sound Solutions and Country Manager of Philips in Austria.

 

Prior to taking up the leadership of Philips Audio business in June 2006, Mr Vaartjes was an Executive Board Member and Chief Sales Officer of LG Philips Displays (LPD).

 

Mr Vaartjes is married with four children, and has been living in Hong Kong since 2004.
