25 families joined the “Harmonious Community, Neighborhood Care” Christmas sharing event, and all went home wiser and happier.
The event centered on the theme of sharing. It started with the family members sharing their problems they have encountered in life, and how they solved them with the support of their neighbors.
Finally it was time for the social workers from the Centre to give their professional views, based on years of experience in neighborhood support and the creation of harmonious communities.
The afternoon ended with joy and excitement as Philips innovative products, including a TV set, DVD sets, heaters, water boilers, electric rice cookers, desk lamps, telephones and traveling bags, were given out to the participating families through a lucky draw.
The Caritas Integrated Family Service Centre was founded in 1973 to serve the family needs of the Hong Kong East population. With a great abundance of experience in neighborhood support, it provides families in the region with preventive, supportive and remedial services.
The Philips Volunteers have had a busy year in 2006. Since September, they have made several visits to various social service organizations serving a variety of target groups, including underprivileged children of different nationalities and social backgrounds, the elderly, and families living on Comprehensive Social Assistance. Everywhere they go, they not only give out Philips products, but also genuine care for people, changing their lives for the better.
