For optimal cutting and gliding performance, we advise you to replace the foil every 12 months or when it no longer provides the shaving or trimming results you expect. Always replace the foil with an original Philips foil.
Depending on your usage behavior, the exact lifetime of your foil may vary. Similar to a manual blade, the foil becomes blunt over time, and this may result in reduced shaving performance and an increased hair pulling sensation during shaving and trimming. You may wish to replace your foil sooner or later than indicated, depending on how satisfied you are with the performance of the foil.
When do I need to replace my SatinShave foil?

Cleaning and maintenance
One of the reasons for the foil to wear quicker than expected, is improper cleaning or inflicted damage. Replace the foil (See FAQ: How can I replace the shaving head of my Philips Lady Shaver) immediately when it is damaged.
Cleaning tools such as brushes, towels etc or chemical liquids can cause early visual wear.
Do not tap your foil on a hard surface like the sink to clean or dry it. This can damage the device.
Please follow the cleaning instructions below:
After every use remove any hair accumulated on the foil.
Turn your product on and rinse the foil and comb(s) with lukewarm water.
If the attachments need to be cleaned more thoroughly turn the product off. Blow the excess hair off the product, remove the foil and cutter, and brush out the hair accumulated in the head and then rinse it. Make a little soap bath with mild soap, re-assemble, and re-attach the shaving head on the handle, switch on for a couple of seconds while holding the head in the water. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Safely store your product and protect the foil from outside pressure or impacts by attaching a cap or comb.

Shaving head is blocked
It could be that the foil of your device is blocked by dirt or debris. This can prevent the device from switching on or running properly. Clean your device by following the instructions below:
- Remove the shaving foil head by by puling it off the product (hold it by the plastic housing).
- Rinse the shaving head foil with luke-warm running water for 30 secs.
- Rinse the hair chamber. Allow the foil to air-dry completely before snapping it back onto the device
Hair volume and density
The lifetime of the foil of your SatinShave also depends on the volume and density of your hair. For hard or long hair, the foil can wear out quicker than for soft and/or short hair.
