My Philips Semi-Automatic 2000 Espresso Machine’s gauge does not work

Published on 10 July 2024
If the pressure gauge of your Philips Semi-Automatic 2000 Espresso Machine is not moving or goes beyond the optimal espresso range while brewing coffee, read our article to find possible causes and solutions.

Pressure Gauge
If the pressure gauge is not moving to the indicated optimal espresso range (see images above) on the display (stays in the left dash or reaches the right dash), please ensure you ground the correct dosage of ground coffee for the cup filter basket (1 or 2 cups) you are using and tamped the coffee correctly.
Note:
  • Grinding a single dosage, while using the 2-cup filter basket, will result in under-extraction. The pressure gauge will remain in the range of the left dash or not move at all, and the coffee will taste watery.
  • Grinding a double dosage, while using the 1-cup filter basket, will lead to over-extraction. The pressure gauge will move to the dash at right and your coffee will taste bitter, and there will be no crema.

To know the optimal amount, please refer to the User Manual specific to your model.

When you have the right dosage for the filter cup basket you are using but the pressure gauge is not moving to the optimal espresso range (stays in the left dash or reaches the right dash) while brewing coffee, that could happen due to the tamping of the ground coffee:
  • Left dash: Ensure you have the right dosage for the cup filter basket you are using and try with more force when tamping the ground coffee.
  • Right dash: Ensure you have the right dosage for the cup filter basket you are using and tamp the ground coffee with less force.

If these solutions did not help solve the issue, please contact us for further assistance.
