If your Philips Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine is not making coffee, read our article below to find possible causes and solutions. Note: All images shown below are generic representations only; there can be some differences among specific appliances.
Firstly, ensure the water tank is filled with water. If coffee still comes out slowly or not at all, the machine circuit may have become blocked due to limescale. Please descale your machine using the Philips Espresso machine descaler and follow the detailed instructions in the User Manual.
There is a chance your cup filter basket is clogged. In that case, please use a different cup filter basket to confirm, and if that one works, follow the cup filter basket cleaning instructions that you can find in the User Manual.
If the coffee dispensing spouts of the portafilter are clogged, you can unclog them using a thin pin to clean the coffee dispensing spout and its holes
Make sure to only use the compatible cup filter baskets that were included with your Philips Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine.
By turning the bean container, you can adjust the grind settings of the integrated grinder. Turn it counterclockwise (towards 15) for a coarser grind.
When you tamp the coffee, be careful not to apply too much force. A good way to know if you have tamped it enough is to use enough force to have the top edge of the metal cap on the tamper level with the top of the portafilter holder.
Always use the correct amount of ground coffee depending on the cup basket you are using. You can refer to the optimum amount in the User Manual specific to your model.
