Recall of Foldable Hairdryers

As a precaution, Philips is voluntarily recalling and replacing two Foldable Hairdryer models produced between February 2008 – January 2011.

The affected hairdryers have the following Product Model/Type Numbers and Week Code:

Philips Salon Essential Hairdryer, Model HP4931	0832 – 1104
Philips SalonDry Travel Hairdryer, Model HP4940	0808 – 1023

The reason for this action is that in very rare cases, the hairdryer can get overheated when left plugged into the electrical connection. This poses a potential hazard, such as fire, even when the appliance is switched off and not in use.

All of the affected hairdryer models have a foldable handle. To identify if your product may be affected:

First, unfold the handle. The Product Model/Type Number will be printed on the underside of the main body of the product, like the one shown here.

Then, please look for the week code embossed at the lower right hand corner of the print like the one shown here.
